Pregnancy is a very special time in a woman’s life, but it brings with it significant physical changes to our bodies. Some of those changes are obvious, but others are more subtle. Sometimes these changes can result in discomfort, and using heat is a safe and easy way to address those aches and pains.
Even early on in pregnancy, hormones will begin to ‘soften’ the pelvic ligaments, in preparation for birth. This can create very slight movement and aggravate the ligaments, resulting in significant discomfort. This most often occurs at the junction of the two pubic bones at the front of the pelvis and is referred to as Symphysis Pubis Disfunction (SPD). The sacroiliac joints at the back of the pelvis and the lower back itself can be similarly affected, especially towards the middle and later stages of pregnancy.
During pregnancy, upper back tightness and headaches are also common, so heat can play a huge role in providing drug free pain relief and comfort.
Heat can also play a role in helping to manage pain during labour. Until now, it has been impractical to utilize though, because it is difficult to maintain good contact to the areas where it’s needed, especially during an active childbirth. This is where the Easyheats Back is extremely effective, as the heat can be targeted and will stay firmly in place, even whilst moving about and changing position.
